      This is an ace question.
If you’d asked me this about a month ago, I would have said yes. I’m sorry that I can’t go into lots of detail because it’s not fair on the child, but there was one child that I was part of one of my studies that I didn’t think was doing any better. This child had got into trouble with the police at weekends, and didn’t seem to be doing much better at school. But! I spoke with this child’s teacher last week and I was wrong – this child is in fact one of the biggest success stories. The child’s mother is happier and the teacher is really pleased too.

I think one thing that I’ve had to learn is that some children will take longer to change their behaviour, some children have problems at home that I can’t do very much about, and some children have the sort of medical or psychiatric problems that would benefit from medical help (like some children with ADHD can be helped with ritalin). However, with work and time, I do think that all children can be helped a decent amount. Results might take a while, but I definitely think that it’s worth not giving up.
